Campus Access Vaccination Policy

Guidelines and requirements of employees and students regarding the COVID-19 vaccination

Preamble

This policy is in response to the worldwide COVID-19 Pandemic and binding instructions issued by the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health.

Hanson College of Business, Health & Technology (‘Hanson’) is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for our employees, contractors, volunteers, students, and members of the public with whom we interact regularly. The purpose of the Vaccination Policy (the ‘Policy’) is to provide guidelines pertaining to the expectations and requirements of employees, contractors, volunteers, and students with respect to COVID-19 and vaccination.

Definitions

Campus: includes all property and facilities owned and controlled by Hanson.

Fully vaccinated: means individuals who received

1) the full series of a COVID-19 vaccine authorized by Health Canada, or any combination of such vaccines

2) one or two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine not authorized by Health Canada, followed by one dose of a COVID-19 mRNA vaccine authorized by Health Canada

3) three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine not authorized by Health Canada; and they received their final dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days ago.

Required individuals: employees, contractors, volunteers, students, and visitors.

Policy Statements

Vaccination requirement

1.Subject to the grace period set out below, all Required Individuals must be fully vaccinated (and present proof of fully vaccinated status) to access Campus unless Hanson grants them an accommodation in accordance with the Human Rights Code.

Antigen testing requirement

2.Required Individuals who are not fully vaccinated may only access Campus if they submit to regular antigen testing for COVID-19 and demonstrate a negative result, at intervals to be determined by Hanson and by means of verification to be determined by Hanson.

3.Subject to a notice that may be given by Hanson outside of this Policy, negative test results must be achieved within the last seven calendar days prior to entry.

4.Hanson is not required to provide, facilitate, or fund antigen testing for COVID-19.

Grace period

5.Notwithstanding Clause 1, Required Individuals who are not fully vaccinated may access Campus before October 15, 2021 without an accommodation if they meet Hanson’s antigen testing requirements. As of October 16th, 2021, all individuals who are not fully vaccinated or have an approved exemption will not be granted access to campus.

Other Provisions

6.Local Public Health measures such as the use of non-medical masks or face coverings, physical distancing, enhanced cleaning, and capacity limits will continue to be practiced, pending changing direction from the province or from Ontario Public Health.

7.Communication regarding this policy shall include information on best practices, frequently asked questions, and public health advice.

8.This policy will apply until further notice, though Hanson will conduct a re-assessment of risks on a regular basis and at a minimum every semester.

Enforcement

Individuals providing false documentation (either proof of vaccine or exemption request) will be subject to sanctions, up to and including expulsion or termination as per Hanson’s Code of Conduct policy.
