Renew, Re-fresh, Re-energize: Cambrian at Hanson Leadership Summit

Renew, Re-fresh and Re-energize

On Wednesday September 21, 2022, delegates from Cambrian College and Hanson College met in North York, Ontario as part of a leadership summit between the two prestigious institutions. Renew, Re-fresh and Re-energize were the themes of the day as the colleges advanced their industry leading partnership post-pandemic.

The day started with an engaging fireside chat between Bill Best, President, Cambrian College, Shouyi Ma, President and CEO, Hanson College, and current students. After outlining their respective visions for the partnership in the future, students were invited to ‘Ask Me Anything’ of the two presidents.

Students queried the two presidents about what they thought were the most crucial factors in building a successful career, as well as future study opportunities post-graduation.

“One of the most important things in building a successful career is to surround yourself with good people” said Best, with Paula Gouveia, Vice President Academic, Cambrian College, adding, “With the launch of our new Business degree programs in Data Analytics, Digital Marketing and Accounting, Cambrian College graduates have more options than ever to advance their education with us.”

The teams then participated in meaningful discussions about the challenges and opportunities faced by the industry. Solutions and ideas were shared to Renew, Refresh and Re-energize the partnership including continuing robust quality assurance efforts, growing the student services portfolio, and building upon a diverse mix of programming. A tour of Hanson’s brand new 60,000 sqft facility followed, with the day ending with the signing of an industry leading enrolment framework.

“Today’s leadership summit is an important step to renewing our commitment to this partnership and our communities. Our efforts today will continue to shape Cambrian and Hanson into the leader in Public-Private Partnership education delivery in Canada,” said Ma upon signing the agreement which cements the two institutions’ commitment to governance and ensuring high quality interactions between all stakeholders in the enrolment process.

After a productive day of meetings, the teams ended the day at the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and enjoyed the brilliance of world class musicians.
