Hanson Canada Ushers in a New Era of Leadership with Three Strategic Executive Appointments

Hanson is inaugurating three pivotal executive roles in its new structure as it sets the stage for continual growth and fortifies its position as Canada’s preferred educator.

Andrew Kennedy as Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Hanson Canada is thrilled to announce the appointment of Andrew Kennedy as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO).

In his role as COO, Andrew will be entrusted with crafting and refining Hanson’s operational strategy, ensuring that all operations and business activities are driving organizational growth. His leadership will be pivotal in enhancing efficiency, streamlining processes, and ensuring that Hanson remains agile in an ever-evolving educational landscape.

Andrew brings a wealth of experience from the financial sector to his new role. His career journey has seen him in pivotal roles at top-tier institutions, including as Managing Director of Investment Banking at Desjardins Capital Markets, a Managing Director role in IPO Advisory at Deloitte Canada, and Vice President positions at Alignvest Management Corporation, Brookfield Asset Management, and TD Securities. Throughout his tenure in these roles, Andrew showcased skills in financial reporting, advisory, and leadership, making him a perfect fit for driving operational excellence at Hanson Canada.

Andrew holds an MBA from the Ivey Business School at Western University, as well as an Honors Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Western University.

Avery Haw as Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Hanson Canada is delighted to announce the appointment of Avery Haw as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

As a key member of the Executive Team, Avery will be instrumental in shaping Hanson Canada’s financial strategy and protocols, providing the necessary leadership as the organization embarks on a new phase of growth and innovation.

With a comprehensive portfolio of financial expertise, Avery has a track record of leadership excellence and strategic foresight. His prior experience includes CFO roles at multiple private technology companies where he helped build and grow their respective businesses, including the successful acquisition of a firm that he helped found. Prior to that, he also held various capital market roles at Brookfield Asset Management and TD Securities. Avery’s vast experience, ranging from start-ups to capital markets, positions him uniquely to drive Hanson Canada’s financial performance and trajectory.

Avery holds an MBA from the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Toronto.

Cynthia Chu as Chief Administrative Officer (CAO)

We are delighted to announce the promotion of Cynthia Chu to the role of Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) at Hanson Canada.

In her enhanced capacity, Cynthia will be at the forefront of partnership management, overseeing the strategic direction and integration of our facilities, as well as steering our legal and procurement operations. Her intricate understanding of Hanson’s culture and operations, combined with her exemplary track record, ideally positions her to drive impactful change and infuse innovation into these vital spheres of our organization. 

Prior to taking on the CAO role, Cynthia has served nearly six years as Vice-President of Corporate Initiatives and Administration. In that role, she oversaw a range of transformative projects and operations, including the management of strategic partnerships and facility upgrades, continually demonstrating exceptional leadership skills and a deep understanding of our organizational values and objectives.

With over 13 years of dedicated service with Hanson, Cynthia has been an integral pillar of our leadership team. Her relentless commitment has not only seen her lead many pivotal projects but has also witnessed and contributed significantly to the evolution and growth of Hanson.

Cynthia holds a Graduate Certificate in Human Resources Management from Seneca Polytechnic and a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Liaoning University.
