Cambrian at Hanson College of Business, Health & Technology’s Life Skills Class Showcase

Hanson Health & Technology’s Life Skills Class Showcase

As part of Cambrian at Hanson’s “Bring Education to Life” initiative, over 40 tourism program students from the Toronto Campus organized a Life Skills class showcase to present and promote their travel agency and products.

Hanson’s President and CEO, Shouyi Ma, welcomed special guests, Mr. Vincent Ke, Provincial MPP, and Sarah Fischer, CPC Candidate, of Don Valley North with an introduction to the school and a campus tour.

Student teams then kicked off the life skills event with their in-booth presentations. Student representatives from the Toronto campus introduced their country, offering different packages to tourists traveling to the destination to explain why their location was the best choice. These packages included accommodations, transportation, attractions and meals in hopes of being voted the top country to visit.

Following the awards presentation to the winning teams, MPP Ke spoke to students about his personal experience being an international student in Germany. He spoke about his journey as a student and everything that led him to becoming the MPP for Ontario in hopes of inspiring students with their own paths.

Toronto student representatives Amrit Kaur and Xiaoyong Chen also shared their journeys in Canada and closed the event with a Q&A session with MPP Ke and CPC Candidate Fischer.

Cambrian at Hanson’s tourism program provides students with important skills required to work within the industry. The curriculum follows industry requirements by offering courses in world destinations, selling and customer service, transportation, communication, tour development and management, tourism law, business math, and event management. The students learn to research, solve problems, become team players, exhibit professionalism and adapt to an ever-changing industry, giving them the tools to be marketable candidates.

The students also receive training in both major airline reservation systems; APOLLO BY GEMINI (GALILEO), SABRE, and a seven-week-long field placement for hands-on experience.
